Marlborough, NY

Marlborough, NY

Marlborough runs along the Hudson's west bank, and its two hamlets tell most of the story: Marlboro to the south, and Milton to the north, home to America's oldest continually operated vineyard and a historic 1907 train station right on the water. This has been fruit country since the 1700s with orchards and vineyards still covering the rolling hills between the river and the Marlborough Mountains, with names like Benmarl and Prospect Hill still working the same land their predecessors did. It's an easy drive from Poughkeepsie or Newburgh, close enough to New Paltz for a night out, but the town itself moves at the pace of a farm stand on a Saturday morning, which, on weekends from early summer through fall, is exactly where a lot of it gathers.
