Highland is the heart of Lloyd, sitting right on the Hudson at the foot of the Mid-Hudson Bridge, with the Walkway Over the Hudson launching from its riverbank as the world's longest elevated pedestrian bridge. But, the Town of Lloyd is bigger than that one view: 33 square miles running from the river up to Illinois Mountain, laced with the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, Black Creek, and Chodikee Lake. It's an easy bridge-crossing from Poughkeepsie, close enough to New Paltz for dinner, and still holds onto the feel of a river town that's been welcoming people across that water since the ferry days.
